Registration is now open for Parkway Playhouse’s 2022/2023 children’s programs!

We’ve been listening to our community and feel that we’ve truly got something for everyone, whether your child enjoys the spotlight, being backstage, or even creating theater from their own home, we’ve got it all! We can’t wait to meet our new students very soon! ” says Parkway Playhouse’s Director of Education and Outreach Jenny Martin.
Parkway Puppeteers will be taught by Katie Jones and is for ages 8-13. During this class, you’ll learn to design, build and perform with two different styles of puppets, themed on The Wizard of Oz, which performers will use during Parkway’s production in the fall!
Acting for Teens will become taught simply by Daniel Moore and is for ages 13-18. In this class teen actors will focus on studying and interpreting text within a short time period, to develop energetic plus engaging characters. Students will certainly work upon individual and group material, as well as learn valuable techniques to use anywhere from the audition room to the first table read.

This course will explore a variety of theatre skills, through acting and directing, in order to stage management and phase combat! Teenagers enrolled in this class will participate in an once-a-month workshop class during Spring Semester, and then become Parkway’s Summer 2023 Apprentices.
Private Voice Lessons may be taught by Courtney Malone. These personalized sessions for ages 10-18 can better prepare students designed for their roles in Parkway Playhouse’s Drop, Spring, plus Summer shows.
Parkway Playhouse has also opened registration for their drop production associated with The Sorcerer of Ounce Youth Edition! Students aged 5-18 are eligible to carry out in The Wizard of Oz. Younger artists (aged 5-8), will enjoy the less-intensive process, rehearsing 2 days a week as they learn music, character creation, theatre online games, and dance. Older performers (aged 9-18) are eligible to season casting for speaking (lead) functions or end up being part of the ensemble. Older students rehearse 3 days the week and will learn acting, music, and dance. In the last two weeks, students will all rehearse together, as everyone perfects the show for audiences! Auditions are Saturday, August 27 from 2: 00-4: 30pm.
