Auditions for NTC Christmas show Sept. 25-26 – Newnan Times-Herald

Newnan Theatre Company will hold auditions Sept. 25-26 for “It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” by Joe Landry.

Auditions will be held at Newnan Theatre Company, 24 1st Ave. in Newnan, at 7 p. m. both nights, with possible callbacks to be announced.

Performance dates are Dec. 1-4 and Dec. 8-11. Karen Youger is the director, and Emma Bush is the musical director.

“It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” is a beloved American holiday classic that will come to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. This is a play about a live radio broadcast, so use of character voices will be crucial for most roles. The role of the Foley Artist is already cast.

There will also be featured carolers performing Christmas music and jingles during and before the production. Separate musical auditions for carolers will be held the same evenings.

Auditioners should be prepared to sing 16 bars of a traditional Christmas carol to an accompaniment track they bring. Potential carolers will also be assessed on their ability to harmonize. Choral experience is a plus.

Available roles:

Freddie Fillmore – Freddie may be the show announcer and plays an additional 15 roles, including Mr. Potter, Second Class Angel Joseph and Peter Bailey.

Jake Laurents – Jake plays George Bailey.

Sally Applewhite – Sally plays Mary Hatch.
